how to wear pearl slides

and other meaningful suggestions

Pearls have been trending this season. I'm seeing miu miu, chiara ferragni, prada, chanel, and other couture designers pull off this trend. What isn't so cute is the price! The miu miu slides are ringing up at $900! That's a little over my college girl budget. I'm all for putting my money where I can see it... but c'mon miu miu! Lucky for me, The Style Union came up with some cute, affordable pearl slides that compliment the wildest of my outfits. If you've got $29, then you've got yourself some trendy slides this season.

I really appreciate this modern take on the whole lounging about motif. Remember when wearing kimonos was a thing? It was like, walking out of your house in a robe was totally acceptable. Then, the pajama top trend started, and suddenly, our Insta feeds were flooded with pajama top #ootd(s). Now, it's all about walking around in the fur shoes. Gucci showed their fur princeton slippers, then chiara came out with her flirting eye version, and then boom...Asos, Forever 21, and Zara did it, too. Now, it's all about the pearl slides that look like fancy slippers. I mean...have we all just died and gone to fashion heaven?

Isn't it amazing to mix and match your old pieces with what's trending to achieve a fresher look? I'm recycling my gold, metallic skirt because I love the way it photographs - it never disappoints.

Styling these pearl slides have been my latest obsession. 😍 I can literally wear them everyday until I die. When making outfits with these bad boys, mind your accessories. Notice: I'm not wearing jewelry, only my Trendy Trevi Cuff because I gotta represent. I brought the black of the pearl slides to the top part of my outfit with a very casual tee. The letters are oversized, and black so they make a statement, and match the slides. I bought this tee at TJMAXX for around $7 and it reads: COFFEE (n) survival juice ☕️

Another local shoowroom who's committed to serving the fashionable ladies of the Rio Grande Valley. I actually purchased a killer two piece bathing suit from them. I can't wait to hit the pool and show y'all how it looks on. Too bad that it's already spring break and the weather is nastay! ☔️

Know Your Colors

Sometimes, people will get too carried away in wanting to try something new, and their outfits end up looking like 💩. I know, I know, not a very nice thing to say, but the truth hurts. Make sure you don't pile on too much to the point where you look like a clown, unless you're Iris Apfel...she can wear whatever she wants.

THERE’S NO HOW-TO ROAD MAP TO STYLE. IT’S ABOUT EXPRESSION, AND, ABOVE ALL, ATTITUDE.

I don't know if y'all noticed, but I've recently been using the hashtag

#iShopLocal

to emphasize the fact that I'm a huge supporter of small business. After participating in the Dior & BCBG Panel, I felt even more motivated to use my platform to continue supporting young, local, women who aspire to create a more tightly knitted fashion community. It's important to support and motivate each other by attending small events like these!
