blogging vs. modeling

blogging vs. modeling

What's the difference between a BLOGGER and a MODEL?

I am a Blogger. I am not a model.

I blog because I enjoy sharing things I find interesting. I've always given people advice and tips on my how-to's and where I shop, so I thought,

What the heck? Instead of repeating myself over, and over again, why don't I just post it online.

Let me be perfectly frank, I do not get paid to write things I do not mean. I have rejected some offers because I can not write about something if I do not believe in it. It'd be selling a lie. On this note, I'd like to make it perfectly clear that I do not use Photoshop, nor do I change my body in any of my pictures. If I was having a bad week, and there's a giant zit on my forehead, sue me for removing it. But I do not go around making myself look skinny, nor do I augment any parts of my body. It's taken me many years to regain confidence in my own skin. I post pictures on my blog to inspire local girls to pursue any form of artistic dreams they may have. If you have an amazing voice, record yourself and start a VLOG. If you know how to do makeup like a pro, market yourself and start your own business. If you can help people loose weight in 10 weeks, take pictures and start your own fitness program. Whether it's any of these things I listed, or you've got hidden talents that nobody's noticed, let these nine words resonate with you-

You've got nothing to loose and everything to gain.

I'm 5 foot 7 inches tall.

I weigh 160 pounds.

My hair is short to medium length.

I have dark colored eyes.

I have two scars on my left arm.

I have freckles.

I struggle with my body, but I still love myself.

It's intimidating listing our qualities because society's taught us to only list our imperfections. I advice all young girls, and women, to get into the habit of repeating that you're worth it and that you're not worthless. I'm not a model. I'm not skinny. I don't wear bikinis. I can't pull everything off. I eat what I want, when I want. I won't say no to fries! I'm not expecting to be super thin and to have all these modeling agencies approach me. I enjoy connecting with all my readers (not followers) because I feel I am more relatable. I struggle with the typical nineteen year old drama- dating, loosing weight, studying for exams, dealing with sisters, etc. Don't be discouraged by the idea of becoming comfortable with who you're becoming.

This isn't a backlash against models. Trust me, if I signed with IMG Models this very instant, I'd be the luckiest girl in the world. I've met a couple of local girls who have amazing modeling careers because they love what they do. In no way do I disregard the hard work it takes to be model. The dieting, the exercise, the one hundred percent commitment, that's something worth admiring. There wouldn't be fashion weeks without these girls (and guys), designers wouldn't have muses to continue creating works of art, and bloggers wouldn't be able to sit front row at shows to report it all. Models are essential in this industry, and I consider myself fortunate enough to live in an era where so many beautiful women coexist. From Taylor Hill, to Adrianna Lima, Heidi Klum, Miranda Kerr, Gigi Hadid, and the list can go on; these women are some of the most beautiful women on Earth. It'd be shame to not admire their beauty.

But I'm beautiful, too.

I might not have international attention, but I'm happy, and happiness is the purest kind of beauty. When you start to do things without expecting anything in return, that's when you're doing it for the right reasons.

How to Get the Gucci Look for Less

Shop local, visit the your nearest Forever 21 and snatch these metallic loafer mules to complete the perfect street style look. I've gotten many compliments, and some questions, too. Are those Gucci or...? hahaha Could've fooled you!

(pssst...each picture is linked!)

We first saw the metallic trend on Gucci Runway Cruise 2016. Ever since then, it's been nonstop. Alessandro Michele, Creative Director, and mastermind behind the newly innovated GG Marmont bag, is a visionary artist. He's created a mystical world, that virtually everyone, wants to be a part of. My take on this trend: futuristic. Who would've thought wearing metallic, foil-like, skirts would be such a sensation. This is typically how I'll set up my inspiration board. I'll pull pictures from Pinterest and post them together with a pieces that I already have. Then, I'll get paint chips from Walmart or Home Depot, and I'll use them as a reference. If possible, I like to keep pastels in every outfit, pink is obviously my go to color.
