THE GIRL IN THE GREEN GUCCI
I recently treated myself to an early Christmas present; I think I deserve a pat on my back for picking the best gift any girl could dream of. I deviated from the norm of purchasing the color BLACK. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about the essentials and basics for all wardrobes, but I wanted to be bold. It's been an exciting year, and I feel like my soul has gotten a little color, compared to how dull I was last year and the year before that, so I went with something daring. Originally, I wanted the GG Marmont turquoise pumps because I wear a lot of blue and denim, and I thought it would've meshed beautifully, but this MIMOSA color works just as well. Technically, Gucci named this green pump MIMOSA, how fitting because we tend to dress our best when brunching over waffles and mimosas! I will admit, I was so nervous purchasing the color, because I wear a lot of pink, and I thought I would look like a strawberry or a watermelon wearing pink and mimosa, but at the end of the day,
I tried the whole street style, grunge, black on black look, but the truth of the matter is, I'm a girly girl until the day I die. My mom kept telling me to stay away from black, she says everyone is so scared to stand out that they disappear in a crowd. She finally had the last word in my decision and I'm so happy I listened to her. Mom, if you're reading this, I hate that you're 99% right when I ask for an opinion.
As these are my first Gucci shoes, I've been wearing them with caution because I don't want to mess them up, they need to last me forever! haha I do have some pros and cons that I'm going to share, and I held back from posting them on my blog until I really broke them in, and was able to accurately critique them.
The color is different from that of the photos listed online. On the website, they look like a vibrant lime green, but in reality they're not. They range between a yellowish green color, and at night they look more gold than green. This said, if you're expecting a very aggressive green, don't, they're not true to color.
I purchased the bigger pump, which is a 4" heel. They hurt like a mother. It only doesn't seem that way because I've been walking in heels since 14 and I can suck up the pain if it's Gucci. But, if you think you can walk around town in these pumps without being surprised by blisters on your feet, you really ought to recheck that misconception and cary your flats in your purse. I only walk small distances in them, or when I go out to dinner and have to walk to the restroom, and for my pictures that I take, because...damn.
Love, love, love the box. It's brown and it looks cute resting on my desk. I paid 2 day shipping, and they arrived the next day. When I unwrapped them, however, I noticed a thread hanging out on top of the left pump. I freaked and thought they where coming undone, but it was just a little glitch and I cut it right off.
I tried on different sizes beforehand to confirm my size. I went to Neiman Marcus at The Shops at La Cantera and tried on a 9, 9.5, and 10. Normally, I'm a size 9 but I bought these in a size 10. I read countless reviews on Pinterest and blogs, and I read on Toasty A's blog that they come true to size, so I'm not sure if my foot's weird or, yeah, my foot's weird.
All in all, I give the Gucci Marmont 4" Pump 4/5 stars. Would I buy another? Yes, but probably in the shorter pump. I like the metallic and leather style, probably wouldn't get them in suede. I'm too scared they'll look used too soon.
