As I watched this ad for the first time, I found myself 100 percent captivated by its natural story telling. What makes this a beautiful 2:30 minute story, is the unforced conversation between both jeune hommes, the model's efortless style, and its relatable plot.
The ironic part of what I just said is that this is obviously not the case. Everything in this Tory Burch advertisement has been perfectly scripted, edited, and styled into looking effortless - the Parisian way. If you've already purchased your copy of
like I strongly suggested, and if you're on the AU NATUREL section, then you are completely aware that this is
ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT HAIR
HOW: do not dye your hair, of if you do, only in your original color to highlight it, or to hide any gray. This rule is more or less followed by everyone : you keep the color Mother Nature chose for you.
Do not dry your hair with a hair dryer, but instead use two much more environmentally friendly resources : fresh air in the summer and and a towel in winter. Whenever possible wash your hair in the evening rather than in the morning, so as to not leave the house with wet hair.
HOW: do not get any work done. There are many ways to feel beautiful, and as of today, I do not stand by major surgeries like boob jobs, lip fillers, botox, face lifts, injections, nose jobs, etc.
Altering your physical appearance is obviously inevitable, hence, the use of makeup, hair appliances, jewelry, etc., however, extremities such as plastic surgeries feel so generic. Your face wont match your neck wrinkles, your butt casts a shadow twice as big as your head, your lips look like 2016 Kylie Jenner, and when you cry, your eyes don't close all the way because of the botox. In layman's terms, be happy with how your body is aging. Embrace gravity.
PICK YOUR POISON
HOW: do not over do it with accessories and make up. Pick something you'd like to embrace in your outfit, and let that make a statement on it's own.
In Mexico we have this saying for when a gal/guy wears everything nice in the same outfit : SE COLGO HASTA EL MOLCAJETE. It basically refers to the idea that she/he is wearing something that doesn't have anything to do with your outfit. Our own natural beauty should be the second thing people notice, first it's your fabulous shoes, or glamorous handbag, then it's your giddy smile.
DON'T LET TIME FLY
HOW: a classy, sophisticated gal always wears her watch. Be careful, don't let people make you feel off by telling you that you've got your watch on the wrong hand.
The custom is to wear it on your left wrist if you're right-handed and to wear it on your right if you're left-handed. My favorite brands/designers for watches are FOSSIL, MICHAEL KORS,& kate spade. Usually, I'll go with a rose gold only because I feel like it's a touch of femininity with an everyday outfit. If I'm going for a more bold, sporty feel, I'll go with a leather band and a silver bezel, & if I'm ready for a movie night with the gals, my go-to is a ceramic band with a gold case.
VINTAGE IS BEST
HOW: always have yourself a pair of vintage denims. Whether they're your mom's old pair from the 80's or a steal from the market, a true vintage lover never says no to denim.
It's so strange how we reject our mother's clothing suggestions as a child, but then, as we grow up & notice what's in, we realize that our moms knew trends before we did. I clearly remember always making fun of Mom for wearing denim skirts with Nike's, and never liking how she would wear Birkenstocks with jeans, but times have definitely changed. I've been really into LEVI's Jeans only because I love how sturdy they feel on, & they're a classic.
